Since 2001, I have acquired books for the Scarecrow Press Literature in Youth Series, which encourages the use of children's and young adult literature in teaching a variety of subjects and themes across the curriculum. Modeled on The Holocaust in Literature for Youth, the series offers educators a comprehensive resource guide to the available literature and other resources on a specific subject for youth of all ages, from the earliest elementary school grades through senior high. The resources are arranged in the categories of anthologies, autobiography and biography, drama, fiction, picture books, poetry, reference, and songs. Librarians and teachers will find suggested grade ranges listed, and all entries are annotated, and, when possible, include a brief evaluative comment. Each book in the series concludes with an author, subject, and title index.
There are currently 10 titles published in the series and several more are forthcoming. Proposals for additional guides are welcome. Send your queries to firstname.lastname@example.org.
